Covid-19 Vaccine Update 4/18/22

Since our last update on April 6, 2022, two major announcements have been made regarding the COVID vaccine mandates. On Thursday, April 14, 2022, Senator Richard Pan announced that he will withhold his proposed Senate Bill 871 from moving forward. Recall, that was the Senate Bill that would have added COVID-19 vaccine to the list of immunizations required for enrollment of children to attend public child-care or school. Also on Thursday, April 14, 2022, the Governor’s administration announced a delay in the start of the student vaccine mandate for public school students to begin, no sooner than July 1, 2023.

Ultimately this means that for the remainder of this current school year and for the upcoming
2022/23 school year, there will not be any COVID vaccine state requirements for students to
attend school.
